There are a few types of off-road tires on the market, with all-terrain and mud-terrain being the most popular. Those drivers who routinely tackle trails, snow, and mud on SUVs and light trucks will need a set of tires that can handle difficult conditions.
Enter the Firestone Destination M/T2, which is specially designed to tackle severe off-road conditions that also include snow and ice. Go through the Firestone Destination M/T2 review to find out how it would meet your driving requirements.
Features and Benefits
Drivers may be regularly crossing off-road territories like muddy patches on their vehicles every day, but do they always have the right tires? It is necessary for the tires to not just perform on unpredictable surfaces, but also last for a long time. Outlined white lettering or black letters on the sidewall fits the tire’s appearance perfectly and a tough construction ensures that heavy weights can be carried. The Firestone Destination M/T2 rating is high due to the following features and benefits:
- Brand new rubber compound for superior performance
- Aggressive upper sidewall lugs and a 3-ply sidewall construction for high traction in mud and for withstanding tremendous off-road abuse
- Can be used with TSMI #16 or 17 studs, where permitted, for greater traction in severe snow and ice
- Additional biting edges for great traction on wet, slick, and snowy surfaces
- A high attack angle generates tremendous mud traction
Pros and Cons
If you are looking for high average cornering force and little stopping distance, Firestone Destination M/T2 does not score as well as the Cooper Discoverer STT PRO. However, it did make up in the handling department by being consistent and you can check the others pros too:
PROS
- Firm and responsive steering
- Resistant to chips and punctures
- Self-cleaning properties for mud and rocks
- Aggressive tread pattern allows them to climb over anything
- Excellent dry and wet traction
CONS
- Despite being a studded mud tire, it is not suitable for use in heavy snow as it is not Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified
- Tire noise can be on the higher side over highways
SimpleTire’s view on Firestone Destination M/T2 tires
During the Firestone Destination M/T2 tire review, we found numerous features dedicated to enhancing traction on a variety of surfaces. Just because it is a mud-terrain tire doesn't mean that the manufacturer hasn’t thought about additional biting edges for wet and snowy areas. Customers who buy them swear by their all-round capabilities and love the even tread wear. Despite the tire noise being on the higher side for some, these tires have behaved in a civil manner even for individuals with low off-road use.

Unfortunately, the tire rating system does not allow me to rate these tires in a manner that would show how disgusted I am with them and the customer service. I bought these tires brand new and had them back multiple times for balancing. I have tried inside weights outside weights, tire balancing beads, and had zero success. When I complain to the manufacturer, I got nothing If I didn't buy them from my best friends shop, I would've told the company to take them back. As far as mileage goes, they dropped my mileage approximately 3 L per hundred kilometres. So instead of running nine, I run 12 L per hundred Km. But I did expect this I drive 60,000kms a year and will never putchase firestone or bridgestone products again. Chris Ethier
First 20000 miles or so were fine, then started cupping and felt like driving on a rumble strip, fotated tires and fixed a lot of it but were quiet at first now extremely noisy
33x13.5r15 on my k5. Have had it in snow up the the bumpers and these tires just dig in and grab.
I have had these tires for almost 3 years and have put 70k miles on them rotation every other oil change and they still have about 30% tread left and they are all worn even with no cupping, but they do have minor cracks on them.
Great tire wear great for a mud tire but I do rotate them often
2013 f150 Rotated every 5k miles 37 Psi average Had these tires for about 43k miles at this point. Healthy mix of highway and dirt road travel. I have been very impressed with these tires. They still have at least 10-15k left in them. I've never had an issue with sliding in wet or snow conditions. That being said I found that it took till around 10k miles to where it would stop spinning tires when stopped on road paint with even light throttle. Not a huge deal though. After 43k only issues I've noticed were their tendency to squeal when turning even at low speeds. Road noice is minimal compared to previous tires I've had such as Coopers. Overall, I would buy these again. They are a life saver when it comes to anything off-road and they ride well on the highway considering they're mid tires.
